Description

Copy you can lift

Each block carries the state of what it claims. Lift the words and the chips together.

One line

Partial

A survival and building game about arriving on an untouched Earth with everything humanity knows and nothing in your hands, where every world runs on a scenario file you can edit.

Short

BuiltNot built

Steadfall is a survival and building game. Humanity cannot pass the Great Filter, so Operators send Agents into a parallel Earth nobody ever settled, with everything humanity knows and nothing in their hands. You smash a rock, and the tree is meant to end at light speed. Today it reaches steel, wired power, machines and a missile silo, in a 32 kilometer world that loops. The rest is written down and not built, and the studio says which is which, system by system.

Long

Built

Steadfall is a first and third person survival and building game in which the ground is a solid volume rather than a surface. You can dig into it or blow a hole in it anywhere, and the hole stays. Underneath there are caves, rivers, twelve kinds of rock stacked the way rock stacks, and ore that only occurs in the rock that can host it, so where you dig decides what you find. The world is 32 kilometers around and has no wall: keep walking and you arrive back where you started.

You start with an empty inventory. Flint, sticks and fiber off the ground become a knife, then rope, then a hatchet, and four tool tiers follow. From there the game climbs: metal smelting, an ore refining chain where each rung needs something you did not have yet, power carried on cable you place, fluids in pipes, items in pneumatic tubes, and a building system where whether your span holds is a real question. It runs on Windows, Linux and Android phones, and every platform grows the same world from the same seed.

Partial

What makes a world what it is comes from a scenario file, and that file is editable. Three ship as baselines: Raiding, Survival and Sandbox. A scenario controls what is unlocked, what you start with, and what you are allowed to place and break, which means a scenario nobody shipped counts just as much as the three that did. Today a server can load a scenario script that refuses what a player asks to do, and the rest of the rule data is still to come.

Not built

The setting is a dying far future that cannot pass the Great Filter. Operators send Agents into a parallel Earth that was never settled, to race up the tech tree inside a hold before it is found and the Reset pulls everyone out. That tree is meant to run from flint to power armor, energy weapons and other planets. None of the fiction is in the game yet and the tree stops at steel and a missile silo. The lore is not locked in: it exists to explain why the official scenarios wipe and reset, not as a campaign to follow.

Steadfall is made by Jungle Green Studios. It is in private alpha and a large part of the design above is not built yet, and the studio publishes a system by system accounting of exactly which parts those are.
